The 25ft Motor Boat

At the present time (1960s) the 25ft motor boat is the most widely used of all power boats supplied to H M ships, as it is found in all the Algerine class minesweepers, in most frigates, and in all the Loch and Bay class, and in all Destroyers including the Battles, Weapons, and Daring class ships and has served them all well from the 1920s to the mid 1960s, even its replacement is but a glass fibre copy of the original design.

There was a wide variations in fine detail, some had three windows, some had four, some cabins were varnished teak, some, as in our model white, decks were planked and stained or covered in “corticene” Some ships went to great length to “tiddly up” their boats by chrome plating fittings, leather seats, and anything else that would show the boats better than the others. Colours of the hulls were chosen by the ships, any colour was allowed except dark green and dark red (reserved for dockyard admiral’s boats)

The Model.

This kit is based on a glass fibre hull with clinker planking moulded into the surface of the hull.  The deck and cabin assembly is laser cut from 1.5 & 1mm Hi Impact plastic sheet for “one Glue” assembly.

A full set of fittings in cast alloy, resin & brass is included in the kit with a set of decals and name plates, window frames are cut from vinyl “aluminium”.

Prop shaft and prop are also included in the kit along with a full size plan and a comprehensive set of instructions in english.
